No. Video, whiteboard and chat are built into TutorTribe and open in a separate browser window. Your student joins from their own account, with no links needed. Video fits up to 6 people at once (you and 5 students); the whiteboard and chat work for the whole group. For now, live lessons run in the browser, not yet in the mobile app. Students without an account (phantoms) can’t join.
No. We don’t record video or audio. Recording isn’t enabled on our video server. Only the whiteboard and chat stay with the lesson.
No. A current browser is enough: Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, phones included. Your student logs in to their account and joins with the button next to the lesson.
The video tries to reconnect by itself, and if that fails, one click on “Reconnect” is enough. A short disconnection doesn’t end the live lesson.
Yes. Up to 6 people can be in the video at once: you and 5 students. The whiteboard and chat work for the whole group, and in the group lesson window (video, chat, presence) students only see each other’s first names.
No. Student accounts (and optionally parents’) are created by the tutor when adding them to the roster. TutorTribe isn’t a marketplace. It’s a system for managing the tutoring relationships you already have.
Yes. A “phantom” student lives in your roster without a login. You run their lessons, payments and documents, and you can convert them to a full account anytime.
Stripe Connect integration lets you accept payments straight to your account. Each lesson’s status updates automatically. No more chasing transfers.
Yes. You can create a parent account linked to the student’s. The parent sees the child’s progress, homework and payment history.
Yes. No forever contracts, no hidden costs. You start on the free plan (no card), and cancel a paid subscription in one click.
Nothing changes. You mark the lesson as paid with one click, and the status and history look the same as for an online payment.
TutorTribe adds no commission of its own. Stripe charges its standard fee on each transaction (about 1.5% + €0.25 for European cards), and the money goes straight to your account.
Data is encrypted and stored on servers in the EU, and processing is GDPR-compliant, including data of underage students. You can also keep a student as a "phantom", without creating an account for them.
If your students don’t want another app and you mark payments yourself anyway, choose Fantom. If a student or parent should log in, pay online and see homework, choose Tutor. You change plans in billing; when moving to Fantom you convert student accounts into phantoms.
